Lhakpa was born in 1992. In 1997, after both her parents died, she left Mustang district, in Mountainous Northern Nepal, to live in Kathmandu with her sister and aunt.

She finished her compulsory education in 2007 and wanted to attend a training program to become a designer.

She is the only child at Happy Home whose costs are 50% sponsored.
